Just had a thought I wanted to share. We normally send out a good amount of Christmas cards. A hand cramping amount. We have moved around the country a few times and so add to the Christmas card list often.
This year we are receiving many more than usual. Maybe we are all feeling the negativity & just need to feel closer to one another? I think so. It’s a comfort in this chaos we’re living through.
I think you may be right. Christmas cards used to be a thing, but then the Christmas newsletter became the thing, and then the email and digital art took it's place (we can make very pretty cards this way and save on postage.) But it's not as special, is it? Because we email daily, many of us, for many reasons. Life is busy and we stopped taking the silent time it used to take to send holiday wishes to our friends and family. One quick photoshop and message and the mailing list, a tap of the send key and poof... Christmas wishes complete.
However, this year I picked up two boxes of cards. I felt the need to actually take time to communicate, slow step it and pay attention. I think it has everything to do with the fear, uncertainty and chaos we're living with. Harkening back to a kinder time feels necessary, and Christmas Cards are a small representation of this.
Yesterday was my "lazy day". I turned the big five three. I ate like a champion, 4 friends brought food and visited SO today I will be riding my stationary bike, and to burn the amount of calories I consumed, I'll have to pedal to around the same distance as 2 time zones away! 😁 🍗🥩🌮🍔🚴♂️
Eli and Auggie’s pictures are a perfect example of the term “Creature Comforts”. A day curled up by the fire with a book and the boys snoozing nearby sounds like a little slice of heaven.
I used to commute to Milwaukee for work and loved seeing the “mountains” in the distance as I headed east. It has to be seen to be believed.
I am reminded of my Mom who loved to say: “There is no rest for the wicked and the righteous don’t need it.” I always thought that was selling righteousness short.
Saving the gym for another day makes my heart, it is well! Enjoy your whole “me” day. Love to those warm bodied biggies! 😊🎶🎄

I love everything you just said. Thank you!
I'll be honest. I had never heard of "Advent" before reading this and I had to look it up.
I like honesty.
I think Eli is entitled.. to a big hug and kiss on the nose! 😁😊🐾
A cold day, a warm fire, beautiful dogs, and BOOKS! Life is good ❤️
Agree wholeheartedly!

Wishing you a very Happy Birthday, James! It’s important to celebrate!
Thank you.
What. lovely pictures, of the mountains as well as my favorite dogs!
Perfect choices for your self care day. Eli and Auggie will be by your side as the day moves along. Ah, cookies. Stay warm and enjoy.

Sleep of the righteous and of the sweet but entitled are the best sleeps … what type is yours? 😌
The interrupted.

I sympathize; me too …
Beautiful pups!
Relaxing and reading by the fire with content dogs by your side is heaven on earth. Enjoy your happy day!

Squalls out on the Bitter root, they grow darker every day.

Cold outside looking like early snow this Morning. Cold outside looking like early snow.
Great song.
Some days doing nothing is a great option I applaud
I love the pictures of Auggie and Eli.
We have 3 little ones who change locations regularly. Mostly attached to my body.
My wife is a teacher and gone all day.
When she gets home, they hang with her. I’m mostly retired and spend many days reading and hanging with the pups. I consider myself lucky!🍀
Lucky indeed.
Beautiful. A day at home - dogs, Charlie, books, fireplace, cookies, Joe (maybe the greenhouse 🌲), peaceful.
A day of reverie. 🙏🏼
