Beautiful sunset! I understand how alone really feels the few time all three of my companions leave me. I hope Charlie feels better soon. Covid must be rearing its ugly head again in the US especially at a republican event like the convention. They can only cover their ear but not their mouth!
One of the epidemiologists here on Substack reports a growing wave. There’s time to re-immunize now and still be ready to get the new formula in fall. No Novavax left until then, though.
I hope Charlie gets better soon. Enjoy your alone time.
I would sometimes say "Honey, I'm home!" when I would get back from somewhere when I lived with a girlfriend and my big dobe. About 99% of the time, my big dobe would be the first to come and greet me (always very enthusiastically, I didn't blame my girlfriend, it's hard to outrun a doberman!).
I'd say to my big dobe: "You aren't "Honey".. You are uGly!!" (He thought it was funny!) Sometimes my lady friend would yell: "You better not give that dog a kiss & a hug before me!" And I'd reply something like: "Then You should hurry & run!"
Dogs are ALWAYS happy to see you, if you don't believe me.. Try locking your spouse/significant other with your dog in a room or large closet for half an hour. Only one of them will be absolutely ecstatic to see you when you unlock the door! (Old joke) 😁😊🐾
I crave solitude some days but then enough is enough. It’s healthy to feel both emotions.
But I love being around and near my kitty as much as possible. If I could take her grocery shopping I would. We talk all the time and I love her responses. She’s so wise, usually agreeing with me. 😉😻
When my dogs are not with me, my heart hurts. In such situations, I know they are fine and their needs are met. So it is I who am dependent upon them and their love (sometimes conditional on sharing my food, but still ok). There is no feeling of comfort like that when my female husky, Sparrow, comes up to me in bed, makes circles before settling down, as husky’s do, and finally plops down with her warm back against me. I am blessed.
I hope Charlie feels better soon. And I hope you and the rest of your visiting family don’t get sick. I’m sure the dogs are missing you as much as you miss them. Just think of the big, loving reception you’ll get when you’re reunited. It will feel so good. 🎶❤️
What a gorgeous photo! Enjoy your peaceful solitude and may the words flow.
We just appreciate them more when they return. With the dogs, it’s like I am missing an arm or leg when they are not with me.😂🐶😂

A certain rock band once said, "Sometimes you need some time on your own. Sometimes you need some time all alone."
Seriously, stay healthy, and hopefully Charlie continues to feel better.
Always a beautiful photo! I still say a little book of your photos and writing.

Thanks for your good wishes. And yes, dogs are always happy to see you. I miss them so much, even though it’s only for a day or so.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder, for all of you. Hope he is feeling better soon.
I hope Charlie has a quick recovery. Enjoy your solitude and before you know it the rhythm of chaos will be restored.
With every best wish for a steady recovery for Charlie. Happy writing. A family reunion soon! Gorgeous photo. Thank you.
Hope Charlie is feeling better and enjoy your time!!

They’re with their dad who loves them as much as I do.
A speedy recovery to the Mister! Doggos provide top notch care. 🐶
Enjoy your 24 hours.... work will keep. Enjoy the solitude (and have pie). 😜
Oh I feel the sad longing, too. Couldn’t one stay with you? I mean, there are two of the boys, one for you and one for Charlie.
