Truly sorry to hear this sad news. Margaret sounds like the most perfect person, and place, to spend time with; a treasure you were given to enjoy and love. I hope your memories of that shared time bring smiles to you after the tears have their way.
Auggie and Eli need you and will give you the distraction and comfort you need at this particularly difficult time. I suspect you are to them as Margaret was to you and I hope that thought brings a gentle smile to your face. 🤗
I’m glad you did mention it! I was rushing and it proves that we need to take “time” to enjoy, really enjoy the moments that mean something to us. So, I like to think we are sitting across a table over coffee discussing this or that and just like friends would do, with humor and care, point out to one another that we missed an important point. I missed it, you gently pointed it out, and now we are having a good chuckle… that’s just what people who care should do!😉
No matter how many years ago it still seems like yesterday. Sorry for the loss of your godmother. Some people do leave a bigger hole in our hearts than others. A “lovey” tribute.
Life is short. Be with your precious dogs! Take a walk, play and bond. They are never here long enough. In the blink of an eye our puppies become seniors. Our dear loved ones are gone. Be with those you love and your writing can come later. Sometimes, those needed bonding times will free your writing spirit and the words will flow like water. Love and be there for those you love. We are here for you with love and support. ❤️
So sorry for the loss of your friend. I lost a church friend last month - I’ll never know how or why. Kathy had sat next to me for over eight years. Ten years younger than I, she was bubbly, effervescent and outgoing, drawing others into our small circle. Through her I became friendly with people I would normally have said no more than hi to. In early August we chatted a little after Mass with another couple, Kathy giving the other woman advice about an orthopedist. The next week she wasn’t there. Nor the following week. And at that Mass when they read the names of the recently deceased - Kathy’s name. I froze. Maybe her elderly mom had the same name. As soon as I got home I googled obituaries - and there was Kathy’s picture. She had died the Thursday after that last time we saw her. I’ll never know how or why. I only know that church will never be the same.
Remembered this essay when I attended a friend's services last weekend. An unexpected death. It helps keep things in perspective. Auggie and Eli love you and you love them heart and soul. It'll be good to take some time for them today. You never know...
Love this essay, I have your book and reread them often. This was one of those teary eyed ones, beautiful.
On the dog side of things, my male Germans do seem to get a bit more lovey when something is a bit off, they really are just big love bugs that is until someone knocks at the door and in that case they think we are being robbed. Best to both boys.

You are so kind, but this is from several years ago, a reprint from my most recent book of essays.
Oh dear!!! I missed that and now feel quite embarrassed by my error but believe in the sentiment! Please enjoy a good laugh on me🤦🏼♀️
I hesitated mentioning, but it seemed important. Please forget it.

Sorry for your loss. A lovey tribute.
Oh, me too! Still lovey tribute.
Thank you. Sincere appreciation is always welcome.
With life, there is death, an inevitable end.

I love Auggie's expression. His eyes show so much love.

Lovey … a term of endearment.
Such sweet, handsome boys. I hope it’s only that Auggie misses his mama. 🥰
Those ears! Those loving eyes …

What the heart has once known, it shall never forget. So sorry for your loss, lovey. 🙏❤

And yes, I think the boys need some time with mom like they are used to having. I’m sure it’ll happen & their lives will get back to normal soon.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
