I wonder if your 37 M chippies are related to my smaller clan of only 32M. As it happens while I was typing this one ran across my feet on the deck. Perhaps he was hoping to hear about cousin Ferdinand?
I miss chipmunks. We only had a dozen or so when we lived in North Jersey and I loved watching them scampering around. Squirrels were much more common, everywhere. I even have at least one here on my barrier island - whom I do not appreciate since he manages to sit in my window bird feeder and gobble the food meant for the finches, cardinals, sparrows and greedy doves. In the winter the birds are company. I miss them now that I’ve taken the feeders down - but it’s time for the birds to do their jobs and catch the bugs.
I'm reminded of the old "Be All You Can Be" Army ads years ago, where it's said that "We do more before 9 am than most people do all day." Just a few months into this community here, that's where I've seen you land, J.F.R!
Me, now at my age, I'm more Auggie! Lovely that the world has a place for both...
Haha! There is definitely a bumper crop of chipys this year and it is driving my 93 lb pup crazy! And we also had a nest in a corner of our downspout with 3 babies that grew so fast and all of a sudden were gone 😊 It was amazing to watch!
With all the maddening chaos in our country, it is restorative to read your post and breathe!
I also have a clan of millions, they scurry around under the bird feeder and don't like to share. I know I should take the bird feeders down for the summer but I love watching them. Mr and Mrs Cardinal have been visiting a lot and I have a wood pecker who tries to eat out of it and isn't really good at it. My garden looks like an English garden this year because of the constant rain. The evening primroses have spread everywhere so there is a sea of yellow. I know I should contain them but can't do it.
The French Invasion with your daughter and grandsons will be a summer treat. Enjoy these growing and active boys. Such fun. Auggie, you are very patient this morning. Your property is so beautiful.
Kisses to that patient, beautiful face.
Beautiful, definitely. Patient…not so much.
☺️
Be sure to prioritize tummy scratching.

Yes! We're sporting about 37 million chippers ourselves.
Prolific little buggers, aren’t they?
Familiar with the adorable chipmunk-a, but the rodent distraction here in Sonoma Valley? The not nearly as adorable ground squirrel.
All rodents not welcome at my house. Good luck.

Belly rubs and a kiss on the nose for that sweet pup! 😊🐾🥎

We feed in summer too.
Here’s to productive mornings and more gratuitous dog AND garden photos.
Much appreciated, as always.
It’s all coming along nicely, Mrs. R-S!
Eli❤️ Auggie 💚
Wish you could bring back bread! Miss that. Great now I’m hungry 🤤
Bread?
The bread, rolls etc… so much better in Europe. Crusty outside and nice soft yeasty inside.
Ahhh! They’re coming here from France. Don’t think the bread would survive the trip.

😊 Love to you and the biggies.
The backyard looks so good! And...we can't wait for the sneak peek!
Thank you, Ms. Riordan. Please scratch Augie’s belly.
Would you and your gardening soulmate be planting a vegetable garden? Corn, carrots, cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes, etc?
Not enough sun.
