I had a baby bird come up to my (glass) front door. I think he’d fallen from a nest because he was pretty featherless and couldn’t really fly. I swear he was asking for my help, looking me right in the eye, chirping. For the sake of brevity I won’t explain why I failed, but I can still see his sweet little face. I found evidence days later that he had succumbed to a predator🙁
I've rescued frogs over the years. One got stuck trying to wiggle through deck slats. Another lived in an outdoor planter. For whatever reason, I've always loved them. I'm with Charlie. I think your little guy was calling for help.
The tree frog was waving and asking for your help. You and Charlie are now a duly chosen as the frog rescue team. If only the frog could talk! Auggie, Eli, Mom and Dad, happy weekend. Stay cool. Approaching 100 degrees in MD today.
J.F. your daily life stories with Charlie and the boys just sustain me at times! I always end up smiling when finished reading - this is one of the best! BTW, I absolutely love all your beautiful fabrics and wall colors in your home -- especially covered with big, floppy, loving furry guys on top!
The wave did it! We've had all sorts of critters down in window wells and finally put planks down the ones without covers and then whoever went down could climb back out... it worked...
Good idea. I once put a plank in a child's plastic swimming pool which was there for the alpacas to enjoy, after I found a dead chipmunk in it. And I agree, the wave did it!

That is precisely it.
What a cutie, I too would have been drawn in with that little wave.
I am hearing about encounters like this more often. In the ocean. In communities. In wooded areas. Amazing!
I think I would immediately have been in the spell he cast to communicate — very happy he is now a tree frog near trees and not in the window well.
I’m glad you were able to help him!

oh, that’s sad.

A lucky frog to encounter you two!

A wonderful story and start to another hot, steamy day. I hope all are safe.
