Poor Auggie! Three years ago our shepherd, Sarge, had bloat with volvulous, meaning his stomach flipped. Emergency surgery was successful, thank God, and yes, he also used his cone as a battering ram. His lasting result from that episode is that he no longer closes his eyes in sleep. It’s hard to see the lasting trauma and know how frightened our pets were.
This is the worst of it: You can’t explain why you abandoned them, and why painful things were done to them. When he got home, Auggie slept snuggled against my legs every night. It breaks my heart still.
we call geese honkers. we also call large bleeding blood vessels honkers so it leads to hilarity. i guess you have to be there. we had an imprinted goose at the hospital for a while and he’d run after you and try to snuggle bye was big and it was awkward if he’d try to sneak into an exam room behind you and your patient would freak out
Poor Augie, glad to know he is okay. Our hearts and souls belong to our sweet doggos. Hope you enjoyed your day off on Friday....hope you enjoy the weekend....it sure is getting colder here in Central New York and the golden leaves are almost gone. Welcome to winter.
Glorious and healthy Auggie. Beautiful picture of this sweet boy. A happy evening with your pals after a busy day is just perfect. Good relaxing weekend, Mom, Dad, Eli and Auggie.
I often wake up at around 4am (50yr+ old kidneys) but today I was lucky, I laid back down and was out like a light for another 3hrs. The days when I can't get back to sleep make them long and I am exhausted by 8pm. Having a sleepy wolf or two beside you probably helps getting to sleep. 😊😴💤🐾
Good morning! I haven’t slept well for 30 years. No exaggeration. I get up and read, and then, maybe I’ll go back to sleep. I guess I’m used to it because I stay fairly active during the day. I hope you, Charlie, and the boys have a lovely weekend!
Okay, well now you made me tear up. I hate to think of Auggie being scared and crying. You’d think the bank would stock secret cheese.🤷🏼♀️ I have the early morning habit of rising at 4AM every day, too. Sometime 3:30. An old habit, too, from rising at 4AM to catch the first trolley of the day. At this point, I don’t think it’s a habit I’ll ever break. Fortunately, there’s this thing called an afternoon nap, for which I’m grateful. Happy to hear the book is almost done. Can’t wait to read it! Enjoy your Wisconsin fall.
What a lovely vignette! I do enjoy seeing your life in these peeks. The trees look amazing.
I once read a description of the waning crescent moon as “the old moon with the new moon in her arms.” Now I always search for the penumbral shadow of the moon to see that. It’s such a mystical way of seeing celestial bodies.
The other day I was taking Callie for a walk. A bunch of geese were flying NE. Without thinking I said out loud ‘you’re going the wrong way.’ I’m sure my neighbors are thinking I’m nuts talking to birds so far away. 😁
I so enjoy the glimpses of your lives that you and Charlie share in your posts. My dogs are jealous of the lives that your dogs live (Auggie, it’s going to be ok) and I wish I could convince ours to share the bed with us. Except that the dogs who have always insisted on sleeping across the bed instead of parallel with us. Have a lovely weekend and I’m looking forward to the next book!
Thank you for the kind words. Even I had to re-read the books!
By the way, thanks, too for the info. I had no idea about new regulations. I’ll have to look into that.

Me too.

The sleepy wolves always help.
I am so happy that Auggie recovered so well, xxx. Big hug for Auggie and Eli from Denmark.
Glad he's all better! Snooter smooches

Poor Auggie I’m sure he will get over his fear.
Happy Saturday to you too 🥂
